The All-New Macan is an Electrifying Pivot
This year, Porsche is preparing to launch its second all-electric model – and it comes with a familiar face.

A decade after its debut, the increasingly popular Porsche Macan undergoes a dramatic, electrified reinvention. The new Macan 4 and Macan Turbo are all-electric SUV offerings from Porsche that set new standards for EV performance. Powered by its 800-volt architecture, the new Macan charges fast, drives faster, and blurs the boundaries between compact SUVs and sports cars.
High-Powered Performance
The new Macan may be built like an SUV, but it drives like a sports car. During development, Porsche kept its focus on driving dynamics and steering feel. Both the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo have all-wheel drive, with twin electric motors controlled via the power electronics. And Porsche’s efforts to mesh the Macan’s design DNA with optimized aerodynamics have resulted in one of the most streamlined SUVs available.
22-inch wheels are spread across two available powertrains. Although the EV Macan is a bit larger than the gas-powered Macan compact luxury SUV (and two inches longer), it feels airy and compact once in motion, as the superior, sports-car-like performance sets in. The Macan 4 accelerates from zero to 60 in 4.9 seconds, while the Macan Turbo takes just 3.1 seconds and hits a top speed of 161 mph.
When the Macan does need to stop for a charge, you can be assured that it won’t be sidelined long. Thanks to its charging capacity of us to 270 kW, the Macan EV is able to climb from 10% to 80% charge in under 22 minutes. And while driving, regenerative braking allows up to 240 kW of power to be recuperated via the electric motors.
Although there isn’t an EPA-estimated range figure yet, expect it to land around 310 miles on a full charge.
Green Screens
The stately interior of the Macan EV is awash with standard and optional screens. All models feature a 10.9-inch central dashboard touchscreen paired with a 12.6-inch driver display. Passengers have the option of a private, 10.9-inch passenger-side screen. Most audacious of all is the Porsche Driver Experience, an optional augmented-reality head-up display unit.
The Macan EV runs on an Android-based infotainment system while supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Porsche’s voice assistant has received an overhaul, as has the navigation app. For your convenience, charging ports can be found on each side of the car.
Just as the Macan’s sporty performance doesn’t sacrifice the SUV’s practicality, its interior flourishes don’t compromise its remarkable spaciousness. In fact, electrification has increased the available interior space. There’s also a second luggage compartment tucked inside the hood, ensuring all the room you’ll need.
Change the Way You View SUVs
The upcoming Macan EVs take the generalized notions of compact SUVs and subvert them at every turn. It takes a concept that would have been inconceivable when the original Macan launched in 2014 – an electric vehicle, an SUV, and a sports car merged into one vehicle – and redefines each category in the process.
Here at Porsche Lehigh Valley, we’re currently taking inquiries on the all-electric Macan. The Macan 4 starts out at $80,450, while the Macan Turbo EV starts at $106,950. While you wait for both models to arrive in the second half of the year, visit us at 3401 Lehigh Street in Allentown and explore Porsche’s original all-electric offering: the lightning bolt that is the Porsche Taycan.
According to Porsche, the Macan is the second of four planned all-electric vehicles, which also includes the upcoming “e-718” coupe. As Porsche continues their pursuit of sustainability, we’re with you for every step of the journey here at Porsche Lehigh Valley.
