The New Macan Repped Porsche at the Met Gala
When we introduced the all-electric Porsche Macan just three months ago, we didn’t expect the EV’s star to rise this quickly.

Yet lo and behold, the Macan was brushing up against the elites of the fashion world and Hollywood last night as the official electric vehicle of the 2024 Met Gala.
Porsche celebrated the launch of its second all-electric vehicle by hosting a celebration in conjunction with the Gala. Honoring the world of fashion and design, the event was held at Soho House on 9th Ave., hosted by Academy Award-nominated actor Barry Keoghan, and featured a live performance by musician RAYE.

Entering the Garden of Time
The Met Gala – ostensibly a fundraiser dedicated to New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute – has evolved into one of the most prestigious and glamorous evenings of the year for the biggest names in various industries. Thus, you have Serena Williams and Alexander Skarsgard jostling for the same cameras as Bad Bunny and Jerry Seinfeld.
This year’s theme was “The Garden of Time,” which many attendees (minus NBA player Ben Simmons and his clock-case) interpreted liberally. Some leaned heavily into the garden motif, donning floral dresses or suits. Zendaya walked the red carpet not once but twice, using time’s vague elasticity as a thematic permit to drop a second dress. Michael Shannon held this bag of chips for some reason.
Meanwhile, at Porsche’s kickoff event, the all-electric Porsche Macan was on display alongside its EV predecessor, the Porsche Taycan. Their backdrop was the alluring Electric Garden art installation in front of the Soho House. Needless to say, the Macan dominated its neon spotlight. And as the official electric vehicle of the 2024 Met Gala, attendees were given the opportunity to drive the new Macan to and from the event, thereby becoming some of the first to experience Porsche’s new EV in action.
An Electrifying Introduction
If the new Porsche Macan was starstruck by its surroundings, you wouldn’t know it. Just weeks after its global debut, the Macan showcased a decade’s worth of confidence thanks to the original Macan’s progressive, timeless design.
Now, the Macan is setting off into an all-electric future. In combination with Launch Control, the Porsche Macan 4 generates up to 300 kW (402 hp) of overboost power, while the Macan Turbo produces up to 470 kW (630 hp). The Macan 4’s zero to sixty time clocks in at 4.9 seconds, with the Macan Turbo needing just 3.1 seconds. The Macan boasts 479 lb-ft of maximum torque and a top track speed of 136 mph, while the Macan Turbo sets those specs at 833 lb-ft and 161 mph.
Once you experience what it’s like to drive an all-electric Macan, the gas model will become a distant memory. In addition to providing our planet with a sustainable means of transportation, the Macan provides you with a luxuriously silent ride. Furthermore, each model of the new Macan comes with optional thermal and acoustic glass to help minimize sound levels.
